Be in Our Music Video "Mom"

Hi vogelJoy fanistas! I think that Spanish language is finally rubbing off on me
We&#8217;re brainstorming about the production of our music video for our song &#8220;Mom&#8221; and we want you to be part of it.
So here it is: our casting call to Moms and families and vogelJoy fans!

Send us video!

Video clips of you Moms being active playing with your kids.
Video clips for &#8220;She&#8217;s the prettiest girl in town, that&#8217;s what daddy said&#8221; : You know, clips of you with your spouse on a picnic, sitting on a bench together, having fun, Dad giving mom flowers, spinning her around, a kiss &#8230; you know&#8230; Dad showing off and loving the prettiest girl in town, the love of his life, his wife!
Video of your kids fighting&#8230; ha! Maybe I&#8217;ll just do that one &#8212; I could get lots of footage
Video clips for &#8220;Do you think she knows, that I need and love her so&#8221; : You know, clips of your kids running to give Mom a hug or kiss or to bring Mom a picture or picking flowers or dandelions and bringing them to Mom&#8230;
Video clips for &#8220;When you just can&#8217;t find your stuff and you&#8217;ve been looking long enough, Ask Mom&#8221; : your kids looking for stuff in their messy room and Mom pointing where it is, that sort of idea.
Video of the whole family doing their favourite thing together, your thing, what makes your family you and the happiest.

Send us Photos!
Pictures are our second choice but we may still be able to incorporate them. We are looking for photos that would represent the ideas above.
Not all videos or pictures will be chosen but I bet a lot will! We will not be giving credit to photographers or videographers or businesses etc. with the video &#8211; it&#8217;s a homemade vogelJoy and fan music video &#8211; easy peasy, no fuss no muss and beautiful =)

&#8220;Mom&#8221; Lyrics : click to download song <a href="http://vogeljoy.files.wordpress.com/2013/05/mom-lyrics.pdf">Mom Lyrics

When you just can&#8217;t find your stuff
And you&#8217;ve been looking long enough
Ask Mom, just ask Mom
She always seems to know
When your important things go
So ask Mom, just ask Mom
Mom&#8217;s got eyes on the back of her head
She&#8217;s the prettiest girl in town that&#8217;s what Daddy said
She is smart, she is wise
and those tears in her eyes
are the pride she feel inside
when she knows how hard I&#8217;ve tried
Skin your knee and stub your toe
Get a bee sting on your nose
Tell Mom, just tell Mom
Broken hearts, broken bones
Broken friendships, broken homes
Tell Mom, just tell Mom
When I&#8217;m talking look at me
Or I&#8217;m gonna to count to three
One, Two, Three!
That&#8217;s Mom, yeah that&#8217;s Mom
Pick your clothes up off the floor
For the hundredth time or more
That&#8217;s Mom, yeah that&#8217;s Mom
Do you think she knows
that I need and love her so
Who can read me bedtime stories
And do all the voices for me
Just Mom, only Mom
Who can wipe away my tears
Understand my silly fears
Just Mom, only Mom
Mom&#8217;s got eyes on the back of her head
She&#8217;s the prettiest girl in town that&#8217;s what Daddy said
She is smart she is wise, she deserves and Nobel Prize,
She&#8217;s my teacher, she&#8217;s my friend,
She&#8217;s my Mom.

That’s Mom, yeah that’s Mom
Pick your clothes up off the floor
For the hundredth time or more
That’s Mom, yeah that’s Mom

Do you think she knows
that I need and love her so

Who can read me bedtime stories
And do all the voices for me
Just Mom, only Mom
Who can wipe away my tears
Understand my silly fears
Just Mom, only Mom

Mom’s got eyes on the back of her head
She’s the prettiest girl in town that’s what Daddy said
She is smart she is wise, she deserves and Nobel Prize,
She’s my teacher, she’s my friend,
She’s my Mom.

Stories from our vogelJoy Stage: our not so perfect moments

The West Edmonton Mall 2010: Sophie is crying,
Oliver is running around and Louisa could quite possibly be arguing with Oliver.
Terry has corraled Oliver to one spot - for a second.
The seats are empty.&nbsp; I'm smiling... on the outside LOL

So far we've tweeted, updated our facebook status' and blogged all about our best moments - the ones we are really proud of - the ones we think will win you over to love us as the most fun, creative, music and kid loving family band that there ever was. But it's true we love to tell a story; a good story. This time though it isn't about how good our newest song is, how 'good' we performed or how good we look ;) These not so perfect moments are what make a good story because everyone knows good stories seem to always come out of tricky situations.&nbsp; We have experienced plenty of those!!!

Performing with young children and especially your own children isn't always easy but we think you'll completely understand since you know us and we know you have a crazy family just like we do. It's not that we've been hiding our less than shining moments from you -- if you've been to a show throughout the years you've been sure to experience our not-so-perfect moments with us! And let's face it - we know it made you smile or at the very least look up to the sky and shake your head. We just haven't pasted these juicy details up there on twitter or facebook after the show to exclaim:

&quot;Sophie was playing with the blinds in the hall while we were singing.&quot;
or
&quot;Terry sings and enthusiastically entertains with all his might while Louisa and Oliver look bored centre stage.&quot;
or
&quot;Radio Interviewer to Oliver: 'Are you ready to sing today?' Oliver: 'No!'&quot;
or
&quot;Kimberly: 'We're going to sing &quot;That's Us&quot; everybody!' Sophie into the mic: 'Yay!! I'm not in that one'&quot;
and
&quot;Radio Interviewer to Oliver: 'Do you like to sing?' Oliver: 'No. Anything is better than singing. Math is better than singing!'&quot;

Alright I admit I exaggerated on the last point; I think singing still might be beating math in the fun factor. But we thought we'd leave out our quirky stories since we're trying to be an amazing -- well actually a Really Amazing family band. Try as we might, our family has yet to become the perfect performers of our dreams and as much as we work on it and think of new ideas to make ourselves and our show better we still have those challenges you couldn't dream up to prepare for ahead of time. But in spite of ourselves and the work we put into our vogelJoy project it appears our imperfections actually give us creativity, fun and that character you love - the one you recognize from your house all making us uniquely unforgettable.

Actually this Markdale Fair show went great!&nbsp; But it's a dramatic looking photo =)

Picture it. Winnipeg. 2010. We were performing at The Forks singing away when suddenly I notice Sophie is missing. She was just 2 then and through the crowd I couldn't see her anywhere! So in the middle of my song I had to stop and ask the crowd, &quot;Have you seen a little girl about this high with a blue and purple tutu running around?&quot; and the whole audience pointed over to Sophie who was swinging on the ice cream shop door. Yes it is a bit of a task parenting and performing at the same time but thankfully there are many wonderfully helpful and good people in the world -- especially at the Forks in Winnipeg that day!

Then there was the time we had a little show in a library in which only one family came out. Just one! But this hasn't ever happened since. ;)

Terry has had some good ones too and in fact in some shows he has quite a time counting to five. I don't know how he does it but each time he scrambles his numbers and so we get little helpers to come up and help us with the song so Terry gets it right. No this wasn't supposed to be part of the show but now I couldn't imagine it any other way. It's completely fun having kids come and teach Terry his numbers on stage! Plus they are usually very good singers too :)

One of the things we used to practice with our kids was just getting them comfortable on the stage so that they would sing and be themselves. Now they are so comfortable that I'm not sure if they remember the difference between the stage and the audience. So we try to emphasize singing on stage is part of their act, their job of entertaining. It's such a great life skill to teach them this! If they get it I am sure they could be successful at anything. They have to put the audience first and for a little while forget about their sore toe or that they're too hot and focus on making good music and bringing joy to everyone there. But this can totally work backwards.

&nbsp;
Louisa and Oliver were performing their song &quot;Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better&quot; at the Hillside Music Festival 2012 in Guelph and during the song Oliver messed up so much that Louisa stomped over to the side of the stage to restart the music. So they started again and there were more mistakes and then some pushing and then pushing back and then Louisa actually slugged Oliver with the mic. This lead to Oliver crying and then Oliver crying more because he was so embarrassed that he was crying. Finally Terry swept Oliver up into his arms and helped him finish the song and they sang to the end with huge applause for the slam bang finish.&nbsp; Some dads and a few families came up at the end of the show to congratulate us on that number and told us how great it was! I was completely surprised. But they loved it and told us how great we handled the song when it was going South there for awhile. In fact they had thought it was all part of the show! That is what they thought until as one Dad summed it up, Louisa slugged Oliver with the mic.

We have many moments in our show that will make you laugh and say, &quot;Wow you guys are crazy! But I love that you do this together as a family -- it's so good to see a family like this and my kids loved it.&quot; We just want to say thank you!!! And we promise to bring you many more crazy moments of ups and downs in our shows in 2013 and happily ever after.

Peace, vogelJoy and Rock 'n Roll

<a target="_new" href="https://soundcloud.com/vogeljoy/peace-in-me">&quot;Where are the voices that call in the night, for violence and bloodshed to end?&quot;

Singers and actors were among the staunchest peace-proponents throughout the history of western wars of conquest (WWI, WW2, Vietnam, Korea, etc). Nowhere did the anti-war sentiment coalesce more than in the folk/rock/jazz community.

Seeger, Lennon, Young, Crosby Stills Nash, Seegers, and on and on. Today, the peace movement has dissipated and is largely voiceless. This little video reminds me that the voice for peace truly has been silenced.

Instead of calling for governments to end senseless wars that have taken the lives of millions of children, today's &quot;peace movement&quot; consists of celebrities who will not say one word about Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, Pakistan, Libya, Syria, or any other theater in which innocent women, men and children die every day at the hands of western governments.

Instead, today we hear Beyonce, John Legend and cast asking for, actually begging for intervention from, wait for it ... the government. Yes, THAT government. The same government with kill lists, drone strikes, bombings and torture of the most horrific kind.

The voice of real peace is dead, but for a few flickers.

If celebrities of the past had made this video, it would have sounded like this:

            &quot;Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, Pakistan, Libya, Syria .... how many more?
            When will it stop?
            How many men, women and children must be killed and injured until we stand up and say ENOUGH?&quot;

This lament should take nothing away from the deaths of hundreds of innocent men, women and children in schools, malls, houses of worship, or anywhere else where lone crazed gunmen commit acts of horrific murder.

And as much as I grieve when I hear about lives of little children just like mine that are snuffed out, I grieve in equal proportion for the lives of the millions who face the same fate by the hands of government violence that will never get 24/7 news coverage, that will never get mass-vigils, that will never hear pleas of justice, that will never have more than a brave handful of celebrities lend their voice to their deaths.

Today most bands, singers and celebrities are sadly only a bunch of propaganda agents for government but they could do so much more just as the singers and celebrities once did; stand up for peace, for freedom and for personal liberties.&nbsp; Give a voice, be original, be real, love.&nbsp; You won't get any less from our little voice and our little band.

Peace In,

vogelJoy&nbsp;

Who are some celebrities or big bands or singers that you know who stand for real peace and freedom for all human kind?

Our Fantastically Successful CD Release Party for "A Friend Like You"

We were completely excited to launch our new album with an exciting CD Release Party!&nbsp; The biggest surprise for us was how many people came!&nbsp; It was packed!&nbsp;

We just want to say a big warm and happy thank you to all who came and supported us at our party.&nbsp; You made our day!&nbsp; When I envisioned a CD Release Party this is exactly how it looked -- Thank You!

I'm sure most people have discovered how much I enjoy the circus so of course no vogelJoy Party would be complete without something circussy!&nbsp;

That is why we found Bogle the Stiltwalker!&nbsp; He walked around on his bouncy stilts and also had a magic act in our show!

I still have no idea how he did those tricks and I was even standing behind him!

I love a good stilt walker =D

We also were excited to have cupcakes at our party and Louisa, Oliver and Sophie had been counting the days for months until they got to eat a cupcake!&nbsp; So it was an exciting day in more ways than one.

There was even a craft table!&nbsp; When we were little we loved making paper cranes so I thought these kids would enjoy this clever craft too and they did!&nbsp;  We like to have kids making art during our shows so that they can create something that goes with the music and have something to take home and remember their time with vogelJoy!&nbsp;

In this case we had paper cranes to go with our song &quot;Peace In Me&quot;.&nbsp; There were a lot of interested kids making paper cranes of all colours -- I loved it!&nbsp; Thank you Mom for teaching everyone during the show - I know it kept you busy!

We had people come to our show from far and wide!&nbsp; Places like London, Kitchener, Brantford, St. Thomas, Aylmer, and Caledonia!&nbsp; It was fantastic!&nbsp; It really looks like everyone had a great time.&nbsp; What a way to spend your Saturday morning!

Thanks to our choir kids for coming out to sing the world premier of &quot;Peace In Me&quot;!&nbsp; It was really fun to sing it all together.

After this party our new album definitely feels released.&nbsp; This concert was the icing on the cake and a fantastic way to introduce our album to the world.&nbsp;

Thank you to everyone online for all of your excitement, smiles and support and thank you to everyone at the party for being part of our album release concert!&nbsp; What a huge happy success.
We were completely excited to launch our new album with an exciting CD Release Party! The biggest surprise for us was how many people came! It was packed!

We just want to say a big warm and happy thank you to all who came and supported us at our party. You made our day! When I envisioned a CD Release Party this is exactly how it looked -- Thank You!

I'm sure most people have discovered how much I enjoy the circus so of course no vogelJoy Party would be complete without something circussy!

That is why we found Bogle the Stiltwalker! He walked around on his bouncy stilts and also had a magic act in our show!

I still have no idea how he did those tricks and I was even standing behind him!

I love a good stilt walker =D

We also were excited to have cupcakes at our party and Louisa, Oliver and Sophie had been counting the days for months until they got to eat a cupcake! So it was an exciting day in more ways than one.

There was even a craft table! When we were little we loved making paper cranes so I thought these kids would enjoy this clever craft too and they did! We like to have kids making art during our shows so that they can create something that goes with the music and have something to take home and remember their time with vogelJoy!

In this case we had paper cranes to go with our song "Peace In Me". There were a lot of interested kids making paper cranes of all colours -- I loved it! Thank you Mom for teaching everyone during the show - I know it kept you busy!

We had people come to our show from far and wide! Places like London, Kitchener, Brantford, St. Thomas, Aylmer, and Caledonia! It was fantastic! It really looks like everyone had a great time. What a way to spend your Saturday morning!

Thanks to our choir kids for coming out to sing the world premier of "Peace In Me"! It was really fun to sing it all together.

After this party our new album definitely feels released. This concert was the icing on the cake and a fantastic way to introduce our album to the world.

vogelJoy 2012 Album Artwork Release!

We are happy to officially release the Artwork for our new album!

Our release date will be November 1 2012!&nbsp; So keep your eyes peeled for our new album on our website and iTunes.&nbsp; ***ok, it got done early... October 22 2012 to be exact!&nbsp; YaHoo!!

Here is our official album description! :

            vogelJoy's second full length album &quot;A Friend Like You&quot; is a colourful adventure of original music with a few additional surprises.

            &quot;A Friend Like You&quot; features a medley of family oriented songs in genres such as musical theatre, traditional, jazz, country and caribbean.&nbsp; You will even hear a very enthusiastic children's chorus of vogelJoy's hometown friends. &nbsp;

            Children and adults alike will find much enjoyment in these songs. &nbsp;Themes of friendship, family, peace, fun, dreams, life, liberty, goodness, victory, health and happiness resonate from beginning to end.

            This family band has grown since their debut album in 2010, and this album definitely reflects their widening musical landscape; vogelJoy 2.0 is quite an appropriate subtitle!&nbsp; As children Sophie, Oliver and Louisa mature vocally, creatively and as performers, they each bring oodles of life to this album and the vogelJoy live show.&nbsp;

            Singing and traveling together is a project and a pleasure; this album is a testament to the adage that music expands us as individuals and as a families.&nbsp; We wish the same for you!

We can't wait for you to hear it!

New Album Features Children's Chorus in Song "Peace In Me"

Our new song &quot;Peace In Me&quot; (music and lyrics written by Terry Neudorf) not only features an incredible electric guitar part but also features a fantastic children's chorus.&nbsp; And did we ever have a lot of fun learning and recording it together!&nbsp;

It was busy

Everyone found their spot by a mic:

Nine Children came out to participate a few weeks ago and we stood on the stage with head phones and mics and practiced and recorded the song all in 3 hours.&nbsp; Was it ever impressive!&nbsp; The kids were completely enthusiastic and really enjoyed the song.&nbsp; Not only that but although they were standing almost the whole time they were so patient and eager.&nbsp; Terry better watch out because I have a feeling that quite a few children in the chorus might each want to take over his rocking lead solo part ha!&nbsp; We had a few little rockers and they Loved the music.&nbsp; It was an amazing time.

The two chorister groups got names.&nbsp; The taller group got the tall mic and they were called the Birds.

The Bird Group

The shorter group got the shorter mic and they were called the Trees.

Here is the Tree Group

Sophie started in the chorus...

but ended up quietly playing over here.&nbsp;

I think 3 hours is probably too long when you are 4 years old. :)

Finally though we had a water break!&nbsp;

Yay we can sit down! haha

Terry conducting

Thank You for the incredible time Terry and for composing this song!&nbsp;

We all love it.

Making Our New Album: A Friend Like You

Hi Everyone!&nbsp; We've been working hard on this album for a long time and time is just about running out.&nbsp; Our release date is set for November 1 but who knows it may even come a bit earlier :)

Here at vogelJoy Sounds aka 'the basement'

we've been working but we haven't been stuck in there the whole time because on our roadtrip / mini-tour this fall we took the mixing of the CD on the road.&nbsp; I drove and Terry mixed along the way and then in hotels at night.&nbsp;

Here is Terry mixing in the van

Right now he is mastering the album and we just have a few things to touch up in recording tomorrow but other than that we're all set!&nbsp; Who knew this was going to be such a huge project??

We did stop when we drove sometimes...

I really did see these Night Dancer signs all along our route in Northern Ontario!&nbsp; Well, they did infact say 'Night Danger' but it really appeared the other way to me and so I had to take a picture of my vision.&nbsp; ha!&nbsp; However, we did happen to meet a couple of these Night Dancers in the form of 2 Huge Moose in the middle of the road.&nbsp; They just walked slowly along and you could tell that this was their woods and they weren't scared of a thing.&nbsp; They made it safely across -- and so did we ;)

Recording has been very fun and a lot of work -- but yes a lot of fun.&nbsp; You can check out my last blog about it here: <a href="http://bit.ly/UpiIgD">Sophie in Studio Or What it's like Recording the Youngest Voices.&nbsp;

Of course Oliver and Louisa recorded many times as well.&nbsp;

Sometimes over and over and over... right Oliver?

haha!&nbsp; What a great experience!

This is what it all looks like in the computer

This is what each track looks like in the song &quot;Mom&quot;. Colourful isn't it.

Terry also recorded tracks with a fancy instrument called an &quot;ewi&quot; and no it's not related to a sheep or a Wii but it can be pretty much any instrument you want and just as fun!

The ewi in action:

All in all this venture has been a lot of hard work and a lot of fun but it will be worth it!

Fun &amp; Mixing Just Mix:

We can't wait to share it with you. Until then have fun, play lots and sing.

A Successful Saskatchewan House Concert!

House concerts really are the best.&nbsp;

You read about bands doing this all the time and now we have finally experienced it.&nbsp; It was amazing!&nbsp; And all thanks to our wonderful hosts!!&nbsp; Thankyou Sarah for putting on the best House Concert around!!&nbsp;

Your house was full with us and a good part of Langenburg Saskatchewan over for the show!&nbsp; We are pretty sure Langenburg is the best place to perform -- they have a terrific audience!&nbsp; If word gets out you may have more bands calling you... =D

Our trip to Langenburg Saskatchewan was long and flat as to be expected:

However, we ended up getting a flat tire and it turned into something fun to watch:

We made it to the show Just In Time!

Plenty of smiles from this little one!&nbsp;

Then of course we got to visit and make new friends.&nbsp; We can't wait to come again everyone!&nbsp;

It was so good to meet you all!

Group Shot Everybody!

Singing In The Regina Corn Maze

We did it - we booked a show at the Regina Corn Maze on our tour!&nbsp;

And why?&nbsp; Because we have a super-duper song about the corn maze of course!

It was a blustery day in Regina that day.&nbsp; In fact I think we had every kind of weather except warm sunshine. ha!&nbsp; It snowed, the wind blew, it rained, it hailed... ok maybe it was just hard snow but it was really cold!&nbsp;

We had two or three families from Regina brave the weather to come and see us and we just want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts to our frost biten toes for coming out.&nbsp; ThankYou!&nbsp;

We sang and danced and to tell you the truth we got warmer because of this.&nbsp; So remember guys, if you're cold just sing and dance your hearts out -- it works!&nbsp;

But we didn't get to meet most of you because after about 4 songs everyone had had enough weather and dashed to their cars.&nbsp;

However, the man from Cuba was fine! haha!&nbsp; He kept saying, &quot;You're Canadian! This is your weather!&quot;&nbsp;

Well, I think it just caught us all a little off guard.&nbsp; Right guys?&nbsp;

So to whoever you were that came out to our show that day... thank you!&nbsp; And maybe we'll meet again...

Sault Ste. Marie ~ A Great Place to Be!

We are unofficially &quot;on tour&quot;, since I'm working in Northern Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan for the next two weeks.&nbsp; I've brought the rest of vogelJoy with me, and we are playing a few shows along the way.&nbsp; Tonight, we had the good pleasure of singing at the amazing Sault Ste. Marie Public Library.&nbsp;

We had such a great crowd!&nbsp; They were Very Interactive and it made for a fun show.&nbsp; Afterwards we had some very keen children seeking out giving some instruments a try.&nbsp; I hope you children keep it up!&nbsp; Music definitely is good for the future.

Here we had Michael playing the trumpet!&nbsp; And thank you for letting us post your picture here!

He really likes trumpet - I can tell!&nbsp; Keep it up Michael!

I asked one very adorable and talented Malia if I could post her little video playing my much-too-large violin after our show.&nbsp; (I should have asked her to play the Bruch Violin Concerto, she probably could have done it!!)

So, with permission from the family and without further ado, here is the amazing, the talented, the one and only ... MALIA!

We were so glad to meet everyone after the show and thanks for letting us take over storytime!&nbsp; What a great night.

Thanks for having us Sault Ste Marie!&nbsp;

Can't wait till we're back again.

Sophie is loads of fun in the studio!&nbsp; On our debut album &quot;We Have A Band&quot; she made her debut as the giggle in the song &quot;Sur Le Pont d'Avignon&quot;.&nbsp; We actually held her in our arms up to the mic and tickled her to catch her precious laugh.&nbsp; A few years later though she's standing right up to the mic and singing.&nbsp; She sure is wiggly!&nbsp; (But I remember Oliver was much wigglier!!)&nbsp; Here are a few pictures of her recording her first song for the new album and having loads of fun!!

Down in the Studio!&nbsp; Better known as The Basement:

Up Close:

Singing her heart out:

Kimberly hoping Sophie keeps remembering where to focus her voice:

Recording Fun:

The video is 2 minutes.... so long but so hard for a mom to make any shorter ;)&nbsp; Bear with me! haha

Work well done! Or was it really play??:
